Family Services--Community Intervention and Treatment Services

Adult and Adolescent Chemical Dependency Outpatient Program
Outpatient Programs are designed to assist participants in becoming chemically free and maintaining a chemically free lifestyle through evaluation, intervention and treatment. The program utilizes group intervention strategies and education of social support networks to achieve success. The program is six months in duration. For adolescents, attendance by the parent or guardian in all phases of the evaluation and treatment groups is mandatory and random drug screens for participants is required for both the adult and adolescent options.

School-Based Programs
Growth Works, in cooperation with local school systems seeks to improve academic success through providing on site support services that target at-risk students. Programs are developed to meet the unique needs of individual communities and grade levels. Intervention options may include conflict resolution and anger management sessions, in-school suspension rooms, substance abuse education and violence prevention programs as well as social work services.

Supervised Parenting and Visitation Program
Trained monitors observe court-ordered supervised parenting time. This program allows the visitation to take place in a supportive and family friendly environment. Toys and games are available to enhance building positive parent-child relationships. The child is never left alone with the visiting parent, and the monitor assures that rules and limits for contact and interaction are followed.

Youth Counselling
Growth Works core prevention and diversion program, is developed to assist youth in stopping illegal activity and reduce continued police and court involvement. Through an assessment phase and delivered in a group based format, with a parent component, the program works with youth and their families to end at-risk and disruptive behaviors. The primary goal is to assist young people and parents in reducing risk factors that contribute to delinquency and building protective factors that contribute to success.

Community Support Programs
The Community Support Program (CSP) at the Canton Human Services Center is a network of non-profit agencies brought together to assist local residents with concerns that affect their quality of life. Low or no cost services are available for senior care, domestic violence, substance abuse, dispute settlement, emergency food and shelter, and individual and family counseling, among others.
